MCS Scheme Support Service supports new installers
6th August 2021
Our Scheme Support Officers, Julian Hodgson and Steve Webster have been travelling the length and breadth of the UK, offering technical guidance and support to budding renewables installers looking to become MCS Certified.
The Scheme Support service offers dedicated, free technical support for anyone who is thinking about becoming MCS certified – or those installers who already are. They offer one-to-one advisor support, workshops, masterclasses and sharing of technical information and support, via telephone, online or face to face site visits.
Scheme Support Officer, Julian, has been in Keighley, West Yorkshire, visiting Knight Engineers Ltd, a company specialising in the installation of commercial and light industrial air-con and refrigeration systems. Director, Simon, and son Ben reached out to MCS for guidance on how to become MCS Certified, as the company are looking to expand into Domestic Air Source Heat Pump installation and are interested in furthering this to Ground Source Heat Pumps and potentially Solar PV in the future.
Scheme Support Officer, Julian, was on hand to guide the pair through the entire process, offering face to face technical support and guidance on how to comply with MCS requirements and Standards, along with the selection of a Certification Body and Consumer Code membership.
Meanwhile, Steve has been supporting a company who are more famous for their Cupcakes than Solar Installations. Lola’s Cupcakes, who have been fitting PV panels to support their fleet of electric refrigerated vans, have decided to set up a new Solar PV company, Next Day Solar, based in London.
With Steve’s support, the company have successfully gained MCS certification, and have since installed an impressive Solar PV and Battery Storage installation on the outskirts of London. You can watch this installation taking place here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hU4pVnLGS8
