Consultation on ‘Future Support for Low Carbon Heat’ launched by Government

MCS welcomes the launch of a consultation from BEIS exploring ‘Future Support for Low Carbon Heat’.

The consultation includes proposals to replace RHI, including Clean Heat Grants of up to £4,000 for homes and business for heat pumps and other technologies.

The team at MCS are now engaging stakeholders to explore the wide-ranging package of proposals aimed at accelerating the decarbonisation of the UK’s heating systems. Findings, and our response to this consultation will follow.

Ian Rippin, CEO of MCS said, “It is crucial that we ensure that changes to the policy and subsidy regime are supportive of the future market growth that we know is achievable. As an industry we need to give people confidence in homegrown energy; this includes boosting confidence in the range of low carbon technologies as well as supply chains.”

He added, “I’m encouraged to see MCS being referred to throughout. It’s important that recognition is given to the importance of Standards.”
