MCS attends its first series of Everything Electric events

MCS team at the ExCel London, for Everything Electric London.

Over the course of 2024, MCS attended three Everything Electric shows throughout the country: Everything Electric London, Everything Electric North, and Everything Electric South.

As MCS prepares to take on a new set of responsibilities under the new Scheme, including bringing consumer protections in-house, it was great to get out talking to consumers across the country about generating home-grown energy by installing small-scale renewables in their homes.

It was also exciting to join one of our MCS certified contractors, OVO, on stand at all three exhibitions. OVO invited us to collaborate with them in their Energy Advice Zone to provide MCS experts to discuss with consumers the benefits of an MCS certified installation.

[H2] Everything Electric London – Thursday 28 – Saturday 30 March

The first event took place at the London ExCel over Easter weekend, and it was a busy three days for the team who were available to discuss everything surrounding low-carbon technologies.

Across the three days, our Technical Manager, Lucy McKenzie, delivered speaker sessions on ‘Why you should use a quality-assured installer for your renewable installation’. Lucy talked through the benefits and importance of choosing an MCS certified contractor when installing low-carbon technologies on your home, explaining the entire process from start to finish.

[H2] Everything Electric North – Friday 24 – Sunday 26 May

Two months later, we saw the second event of the year, Everything Electric North at Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

On Saturday 25 May, MCS Operations & Communications Director, Lisa Cooke, joined the team in Harrogate, as she would be joining a panel discussion on the Mega Stage. The session, titled ‘Ask the Experts: How Can We Decarbonise Our Home Energy through Electrification?’, focused on solutions like heat pumps, zero-emission boilers, and infrared technology. Lisa, alongside other industry experts, explored various strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of homes, including the installation of MCS certified small-scale renewables.

The final day of Everything Electric North saw our CEO, Ian Rippin, join the team. At 12.00pm, Ian participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Futureproofing Your Home – Renewable, Rewired, & Resilient’ in The Mega Theatre. Alongside other industry experts, he shared valuable insights on practical steps homeowners can take today to futureproof their properties. The discussion highlighted the long-term benefits of low-carbon technologies, such as solar PV and heat pumps, and their potential to enhance the durability and sustainability of our homes.

[H2] Everything Electric South – Friday 11 – Sunday 13 October

October saw the third and final Fully Charged Show of the year for MCS, Everything Electric South at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre. Our Market Development Director, Dan White, joined the Helpdesk and Technical team on stand to offer his expertise and join a panel per day.

The panels he joined were: ‘How do we mobilise an army of clean energy installers and deliver exceptional customer experience?’; ‘Ask the experts – How can we decarbonise our home energy through electrification like heat pumps, zero emission boilers, infrared and more?’; and ‘The state of play with the UK Heat Pump roll out. What’s holding us back?’.

This year’s Everything Electric series provided MCS with the opportunity to connect with thousands of consumers nationwide, listening to their questions, understanding their needs, and offering the answers they were seeking. In 2025, MCS will become the first point of contact for consumers, making it essential to dedicate time to preparing for this significant responsibility. This preparation is crucial to maintaining the confidence in home-grown energy, we are passionate about creating.

In 2025, we hope to speak to even more consumers looking to invest in small-scale renewables. Follow our social media channels to keep up to date with our busy events schedule.
