MCS tours UK during first ever ECA #ProjectNetZero Roadshow

MCS CEO, Ian Rippin and Helpdesk Analyst, Jade Corser, on stand at the ECA Roadshow in Manchester.

From 11 September – 12 October, MCS joined the ECA on the road across the UK for their first ever #ProjectNetZero Roadshow.

The Electrical Contractors Association is the UK’s leading trade association representing and supporting the interests of electrical contractors. During the month-long roadshow we visited eight towns and cities across the UK to deliver presentations, demonstrations and panel discussions for ECA contractors. The sessions were aimed at educating installers on the opportunities available in the renewable energy sector and supporting them to diversify their businesses as the UK transitions to Net Zero.

At each event, Ian Rippin, MCS CEO, presented a 10-minute talk to ECA contractors on ‘The Route to Quality Through MCS’. He spoke about how MCS certification is a mark of quality and demonstrates that a contractor installs renewable energy to industry-expected levels of quality every time. He highlighted that this is why consumers put so much emphasis on the trustworthiness of an MCS certified contractor.

He shared the benefits of MCS certification with electrical contractors across the country, while also advising them on the steps, processes, costs, and timescales involved in being certified. The roadshow provided contractors with a great opportunity to be able to ask Ian and other industry experts their questions without having to travel far from home.

Ian also provided an overview of the MCS Scheme changes that we will be implementing in summer 2024. Installers learned how the new Scheme will have a renewed focus on consumer protections and improved accessibility for contractors. Visit the MCS Scheme Redevelopment page on our website to find out our plans for the new MCS Scheme.

MCS helpdesk and technical staff were also on stand each day of the roadshow to meet and support contractors. They answered a range of questions about becoming MCS certified, the benefits of certification and the compliance processes involved in delivering certified low-carbon installations.

It is always promising and reassuring to see how passionate ECA contractors are about branching out into the renewables sector and becoming MCS certified. If you are interested in becoming an MCS certified contractor, read our ‘Guide to Becoming MCS Certified’ now.
