Consultation Announcement: Heat Pump Training Criteria

As part of a series of initiatives that MCS is to announce at Futurebuild in March to support the anticipated growth in the adoption of low carbon energy technologies, we are now consulting on the criteria for new Heat Pump installation training.

In line with our Mission ‘To give people confidence in low-carbon energy technology by defining, maintaining and improving quality.’, MCS recognises that one of the most important contributions to a quality installation, is the skills and competency of the installer.

Our aim is to develop industry supported, consistent training programmes that deliver recognisable qualifications. These will be designed to appeal to a next wave of installers of low carbon energy technologies and in this instance Heat Pumps; whether they be newly qualified plumbers or existing fossil fuel installers wanting to add the installation of renewables to their portfolio.

Following this consultation and further engagement with our partner trade organisations across the sector, standardised training materials and a qualification will be developed.

The timescales for this consultation have now been extended to Friday 21st February 2020.
