Consultation: Solar PV and Bespoke Building Integrated PV Product Standards

MCS has today published a one-month consultation on updates to the Solar PV (MCS 005) and Bespoke Building Integrated PV (MCS 017) Product Standards.

Changes to the Standards aim to create an updated set of documents that include new requirements for manufacturers and modernise the Standards as a whole.

  • MCS 005 – The document now incorporates a new reference to product families to reflect how product families are determined and tested. It also includes additional information on bifacial modules and the test conditions for determining the power output. Finally, the document clarifies the eligibility of modules with integrated module-level power electronics (MLPE) to be certified.
  • MCS 017 – The document introduces new test conditions to account for bifacial modules and clarifies whether modules with module level power electronics, such as micro inverters, can still be approved under this Standard.

MCS would now like to invite comments on the proposed updates from stakeholders. The deadline for submitting comments on this consultation is 12.00pm on Monday 7 November 2022.

Please find the drafts of the updated Standards below. We invite you to send consultation responses to meetings@mcscertified.com using the forms provided:
